Reject cuts to health care, food assistance, and education that would pay for tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy!
When families lose Medicaid coverage, children miss school because they can't afford to go to the dentist. Children should be in classrooms learning, not in the ER with an asthma attack because they couldn’t afford an inhaler. When families lose Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, children go to school hungry. Families already struggling to put food on their tables because of expensive grocery bills should not be saddled with additional financial burden.
Now, Republican leadership is pushing a massive effort to defund education, health care, food assistance, and other essential programs benefiting families and children to pay for trillions in tax cuts for billionaires and corporations. They've already cut education research and have proposed massive cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other programs that individuals and families rely on to help meet their basic needs. These cuts would take health care and food assistance away from millions of people with low incomes across the country, including children, parents, pregnant people, workers, people with disabilities, rural communities, and people of color.
These cuts mean:
Less support for school nurses and health services
Reduced funding for special education programs
Fewer resources for struggling students
Limited access to critical health coverage for families, including mental health services, reproductive health care, and affordable medications and treatment
An increase in hungry children and families, increased health care costs for chronic diseases, and worse overall health outcomes due to loss of nutrition assistance
No one voted for cuts to schools, health care, and food assistance to benefit billionaires. Education funding makes it possible for children to achieve their dreams. Medicaid, SNAP, and other programs that help kids and their families make ends meet should not be cut to help fund a major tax giveaway to the wealthy and well-connected. Congress must make the wealthiest households and corporations pay their fair share in taxes so that we can invest in communities and grow our economy — not make cuts to health care, food assistance, child care, education, and other programs in order to pay for tax breaks for the rich. We must demand tax fairness, including by expanding the Child Tax Credit (CTC) and Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) to help kids and families with the lowest incomes, not cut programs that provide critical assistance to these families.
Take action now and tell Congress to OPPOSE cuts to education, health care, and food assistance that hurt our communities to fund a payout for billionaires.
